Apollinaris

HISTORY OF THE BRAND

ENJOYMENT OF DRINKING WATER – YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW

THE GLASS BOTTLE REVOLUTION

During the company's first decades, Apollinaris is sold in clay jugs as a luxury beverage. The invention of the glass bottle at the start of the 20th century ushers in a major change.

In 1907, Apollinaris opens its own bottling company in Sinzig. Independent of suppliers, 1.25 million bottles are produced here at lower cost. This makes Apollinaris affordable and accessible to a wide range of social classes.

Nothing can stop the rapid development of Apollinaris. In 1900, Apollinaris produces 28 million bottles; 13 years later, the number has increased to 40 million bottles. 90% of the company's production is exported by sea to all parts of the world.

By the beginning of the First World War, Apollinaris has become a true global brand and a tremendously popular export product. In 1923, the company is rechristened as "Apollinaris Brunnen Actiengesellschaft".
