HISTORY OF THE BRAND

THE PLEASURE OF DRINKING WATER – YESTERDAY AS TODAY

THE GLASS BOTTLE REVOLUTION

During the company's first decades, Apollinaris was sold in clay jugs as a luxury beverage. The introduction of the glass bottle at the start of the 20th century brought about major changes.

In 1907, Apollinaris opened up its own bottling company in Sinzig near Bonn. This made the company independent form supplier and allowed it to produce 1.25 million bottles a month at a relatively low cost. This made Apollinaris affordable for a broad section of the population.

Nothing seemed to be able to stop Apollinaris’ rapid development. In 1900, Apollinaris produced 28 million bottles; 13 years later, the number had increased to 40 million. 90% of the company's production was exported to all parts of the world by sea.

By the beginning of the First World War, Apollinaris had become a true global brand and an export hit. In 1923, the company was renamed “Apollinaris Brunnen Actiengesellschaft”.
